Should I get rid of this blog?

This was supposed to be a promotional blog for my book entitled, A Gay in the Life of Melinda Finch, but I'm not sure if it's really working out. I'm thinking of discontinuing it and just using my author's blog. So you could say I'm REALLY insecure about this particular blog. If you want to find out what else I'm insecure about click on my blog.

Excerpt from 'A Gay in the Life of Melinda Finch' - Six Sentence Sunday

“Ok, just say we were to go ahead with this idea--are we going to hunt gay people down on Church Street to find an advice columnist?”
“Why would we?” Jay scoots behind my chair and places his hands on my shoulders. “We already have a lesbian right here.”
This has got to be one of those TV shows where the guy with the hidden camera will appear any second and tell me this is all one big, elaborate hoax.

Excerpt from 'A Gay in the Life of Melinda Finch' - Six Sentence Sunday.

A sickening sensation travels up from my stomach, into my chest and all the way to my throat. I want to scream. No sound will escape me. I wasn’t prepared for this. I’m not prepared for this. What I see before me is so bizarre I can’t put it all together.

Love Advice Question - Blue Boy

Hello Melinda!
Thanks again for your response, I would have replied earlier but I'm afraid I got myself into a bit of trouble.  I thought your idea to shadow my boyfriend to get more info on his life was just the perfect thing to do.  So I borrowed my sister's car and I parked near his house every night for a solid week.
Well imagine my surprise to find out the scum bag was married! Married!  The oldest scam in the book and I fall for it!
Anyhow, his wifey poo got creeped out seeing my car out there every night and before I knew it the boys in blue had surrounded my car.  As they searched my car, and me, I could see both my "ex boyfriend" and his lovely wife staring through the window at me!  yep, not my finest hour!
Anyhow, as I was enjoying some time "behind bars" as I was processed, which took longer than anticipated cuz my sister was out of town so nobody could vouch for me (I gotta make more friends), guess who I saw?  My Avon lady!  There she was wearing every ounce of make up she probably carried in her sample case with stilito heels that would scare a circus preformer...go figure, you just don't know people sometimes.
But don't feel bad for me Melinda, I'm still sticking to the men cuz one of those boys in blue had my number on his cell phone speed dial...and he is not married!

Dear Blue Boy,

Girl! Good for you! The best way to get over one guy is to get under another!

Yay! My first love advice question!

This question is from ca25 who wrote:

Hi Melinda,

I have never written to some one in this form, for advice in love, but I have come to realize I am desperate, and family is just becoming too desperate. I have to admit I have tried twice this evening to put in comments to your blog, but I am, obviously computer illerate and have been unable to post. I hope this one works Melinda cuz I am desperate now in so many ways!

I have been dating the same guy for over two years, hetero relationship, I thought we were both committed to being together. He just had a big family gathering, and it was a big gathering, no matter what he said to me, because thanks to facebook I saw everything! Anyway, Melinda, he did not invite me! He said it was no big deal! Please, please tell me what you think!

Dear ca25,

I was in a committed  relationship once--well, he didn't seem to think so--and I never got invited to any family dinners. My friend said he wasn't into me because he had a girlfriend. I didn't see her point.

Anyway, I thought I should be closer to his family. So what I did was follow his mom to the grocery store every Tuesday at 1pm. Until one week, I noticed she was getting a lot more groceries than usual and when I noticed she was putting some camembert cheese into her cart I knew something was up because she always buys the cheap block of Cracker Barrel cheese. There had to be a family function happening! That jerk! He never invited me again!

So I may the effort of showing up at his doorstep in my best red scarf, and said "Surprise!" Needless to say, that relationship ended...maybe you should try girls?

Melinda Finch is giving love advice for FREE

Dear Readers,

Have a love problem? Post it on my blog, I would be happy to help out (hetero or homo love questions are welcomed).

What experience do I have you might ask? Well...uh...my boss at the Metro-Sexual magazine thinks I have experience, plus, he thinks I'm gay. Go figure...

I promise to give my best love advice, even if it may be off the wall.

Looking forward to hearing from  you.

Melinda Finch Journal Entry # 2- How do you pretend to be a lesbian?

Dear Journal,

I have a new job writing a lesbian/gay love advice column for my magazine company--my boss thinks I'm a lesbian. While this is not true, it's a good promotion. So how am I going to pretend to be a lesbian? Is it even right to pretend?

My friend, Kelso, tells me there are different types of lesbians:
  1. The Lipstick Lesbian - someone who is ultra feminine
  2. The Dyke - In between a lipstick lesbian and a butch
  3. The Butch - Super masculine person
Should I label people like that?

What am I going to do? I want this promotion more than anything, but I have to lie to do the job!

Melinda's Journal - Entry # 1

Dear Journal,

I have been seeing this wonderful guy named, Alex. He is so sweet and friendly--completely unlike Nick. I don't know why I stick around with Nick anyway. He treats me like shit.

I'm holding onto this fantasy that Nick will leave his girlfriend and be mine, but something deep down tells me this will never be so. I just don't know why I can't let him go. Am I really that crazy about the sex?

I'm tired of being a loser when it comes to love. I want someone like Alex, but he is so hard to read. It seems like we can talk about anything, but when it comes to intimacy, he pulls away. Maybe it's me. Maybe I have a huge sign on my forehead that reads, "Keep Away."

Or, maybe Alex has been hurt in the past like me when it comes to love and he's afraid to get his heart too involved. I need to talk to him more, find out what he's thinking. There's something about him that intrigues me...
